As you already know, iStudents is a newsletter based on the Cry Wolf Chronicles. But here's some more about this site.
Commenting
We ask that you keep your comments... appropriate. This means no curse words, nothing that can put other students down, etc. If any of these comments are found, your comment will be deleted. If this continues to happen, you will get an email giving you a warning. If this still happens after the email has been sent, you will be blocked from this site. If your comment are just used to waste space, there will be the same consequences.
Sections
If you read the Cry Wolf Chronicles, you will already know what most of the sections are. But for those who don't go to that online newspaper, here are brief descriptions about the different sections.
News
In this section, there will be things that may be happening at school, and/or current events. Things like that.
Rants and Raves
In this section, there will be peoples feelings about certain things, i.e. the student dress code. In the comment section, there will most likely be a debate on the topic/subject.
Ask Gabby
This will be like the Ask Abby section in the Cry Wolf Chronicles. Students can post their problems under this section, and other students will try to help them.
Advice Corner
This will be an area where people can give other people advice. Maybe give a list of things to do when you're bored, or what to do if you like someone.
Reviews
Under this section, there will be reviews. Obviously. These can be about movies, TV shows, books, concerts, etc.
Jokes, Riddles
Well.. there'll be jokes and riddles... What more can I say?
Short Stories
Students may have short stories that they felt like writing, and they can post theirs here.
Journal Entry
If you've had a tough day, and you want to tell somebody, write it out in a 'journal entry'. You can post it, and see if people can help you.
Authors
A select few have been invited to write for this newsletter already. If you wish to be invited, simply email me. The only problem is that you have to set up a GMail account in order to write for iStudents. If you can't get an account, email the article you want to post to me, and I'll post it for you.
Administrators
Administrators are like authors, only they can do much more. They can help customize the page, and change around the color fonts. However, you have to have posted many good articles in order to be made an administrator, and Kenzi and I must agree to make you one.
Names
We ask that you not use your real name. Personally, I do not mind if anyone uses an anonymous name, as long as you respect the website and your classmates. It's better to stick with a nickname, though, when posting a comment. This ensures more safety. You may use your real names if you think that it will be no problem, but if anything happens, we warned you and you cannot put any blame on use.
Good names to use are:
- Katherine
- Kat
- Katherine B.
- Kitty KAT
Names like those often tend to be safer. [If your name IS Katherine and I have offended you by using your name as an example, I'm sorry. I chose a name at random.]
Readers
We ask for you to tell all of your friends about this site, but we ask that they are from HMS. 6th, 7th, AND 8th graders can be admitted onto this site. Teachers are also welcome to visit iStudents.
Hope you enjoy iStudents!
